Tips & Trick to Bargain in Bali Local Markets

To continue my Bali with me #2 blog!

You had been walking along the street and saw mostly every local stores sell almost same things, and you had hearing them calling you to go inside, look around and buy stuffs.

The only thing in mind is: Which store sells the most reasonable price? Why is it sounds expensive? Probably for some foreign tourists the prices aren't that matter, but some other tourists feel that it's kinda nonsense, too. In Bali, the sellers mostly mark up the prices. And it's your job to bargain with reasonable price, too!

Why I said reasonable price? I ever saw a couple of tourists tried some pants already but then they bargained for 50.000 idr for one of them. The seller opened the price by 250.000. I know... You wanted to bargain or maybe you've been reading blogs saying you have to bargain in Bali, don't get scammed, etc. But still... Please bargain with reasonable price

Fyi: There's a local store in Legian that sell fix price clothes. And yeap, although it's in fix price, the clothes they sell are even cheaper than the clothes you can bargain in other local stores.

I had spotted some stores that sell same dress, bra, and pants and yes they sell them in different various of price. (If you're interested to buy chic and cute clothes and accessories with better and flowy quality then go to stores with transparent glass door. In there you can cool yourself down too from the heat of Bali! ☀)

So... Here are the tips for you of how to bargain in local stores!

1. Make sure you already go to some stores to check and gather on the prices they offer you.

2. Then find which one suit you; whether it is the seller, whether the store also sells other stuffs you want to buy too. Me personally likes to go to store that doesn't force tourists to come in (And also can speak a little English for your consideration, don't expect them to speak fully English)

3. Let them say the price. Then if they sense that you start to hesitating, they'll say, "How much price you want?"

4. Don't hesitate. Say half of the price of it (or make it a bit lower as they'll also try to ask more). Example: A long pants costs 250.000 idr, then ask for 100.000 idr. Then they'll probably will say no, can not.

5 a. If no, then you can keep bargain until half price of it or a bit more than the half price. It depends on you, whether you've been tired to walk in and out stores to find clothes you want or you've found the quality and color of clothes you want.

   b. If you feel the price can't match what you want, then walk out the stores. If they really can give you the price you said, then they'll call you back.

   c. Once you're in back, don't bargain for lower price anymore. Take the price you've said. (That's why when you open the price from you, you need to think quick of how much budget you want to spend for it).

6. Voilà! Terima kasih and get out of the store happily yeay :D

But there's one more very short tips that I apply few times 😂 and it works!

Gather prices of things you've been eyeing, then decide to go to one store and ask how much is it. Bargain half of the price and said, "I won't bargain anymore and buy this thing if you agree."
Example: There's a hat costs 200.000 idr, then you said "I'll take this for 100.000 idr, if you're okay then I won't bargain anymore."

Done. The hat is in my hands now 😂 I can just do that easily because...
I've been observing the hat price over some stores, even in souvenirs store in a mall. So I can know how much the hat is actually worth with that kind of quality. And also the seller is probably thinking, better than nothing. 😂

So... Hope these tips are useful and helpful! Let me know in comment!
